Our new BTS! And a lighting question...

Hopefully the attachments show up, not... quite sure how to do that.

We picked up this baby on the 2nd at the Hamburg Reptile show from Outback Reptiles- one of only two we saw at the show, without expecting to see any, so that was a pleasant surprise! The roommate already decided her name is Meatsock, though we're more keen on Jupiter. Very regal sounding for such a little baby.

Already eating (though not too keen on veggies yet, we're going to try chopping it up more finely today and see if we can't mash it all up in a ball so it's hard to pick out...), already figuring she'd rather hide under the paper towels than in actual hides like a goober. Though she does tend to sleep with her head poking out of things, which is pretty cute but we didn't get a picture of this morning when we disturbed her to fill up her water dish.

Right now she's in a 40 gallon terrarium, 16" high, and there is a 100F basking - 78F~ cool side gradient at around 35% humidity with the light on, and 75F with 60% humidity for night time with it off. (This is the interim tank, with a T13 from Animal Plastics currently in the making to get here around October)

Question though, the lamp is a 165W Solar Glo MVB on a 10" Dr. Flukers Sun Lamp. Given that we have a 100F basking spot and then an acceptable 20 degree gradient, we can only assume this is all okay, but naturally we cannot help but worry that maybe it's not right? We've only had her for a day and a half, and already it feels like 'oh my word, you haven't basked in fifty years and something is terribly wrong' because we haven't actually seen her out and in the light, even though we know all the readings are good and it's not like they're going to be running about 24/7.

(Also, if anyone would happen to be able to tell off hand an ID for her? She's got very dark consistent banding, and an equally dark tongue.)

To me,not the clearest of pics but yeah,looks to be an indonesian,tiliqua gigas gigas,and probably what folk label as halmahera type indos

Dont stress with your lighting,thise temps sound fine for during the day,you could even let cool end get a bit cooler,being of tropical origin you may need to give it bight warmth if its cold where u live,these guys live in quite an equatorial climate,cool nights elsewhere can actually slow them down

Being a new aquasition its quite normal for them to hide abit when you first get them if they know your around,once they settle abit they usually start to pop out more,just need time to adjust to a new home and new surroundings
