New Baby Halmaheras

Postby DianaBlueTongue » Tue Jun 17, 2014 8:51 am

I can't even describe how happy I was this morning when I opened the package containing my pair of baby Halmaheras I ordered last week. They are EXACTLY what I was hoping for and are both so amazing and unique to each other. I wanted to snap a few quick shots before letting the settle in for a while in their quarantine tubs so brought them out on my back deck for some shots in natural sunlight, that always seems to show a reptiles colors the best.

The lighter one had just shed, still has shed on his head, and has such a beautiful tiger pattern all down his back. And I just love the pale background color, not to mention the crisp webbing on his head. Very curious little bugger too and like Dakota's Riley, has that beautiful half pink half blue tongue.

The other little bub is just so ORANGE. The pics just do him no justice for how orange he really is. And those solid eye bands! He's a little more feisty then the lighter one too.

They are both sooo itty bitty though but seem very alert and active, literally every time I moved the camera they would both do a full out blue tongue display. I'm soo happy and excited to have been able to get a couple of this gorgeous sub species, Halmahera's are by for my favorite of the indo blues.

Anywho, that's it, just had to share :P

FYI I NEVER recommend to regular reptile keepers to knowingly buy fresh imported baby reptiles. I've been doing this for over 15 years, have panacur and other meds for parasites always on hand and have helped 100s of imported animals acclimate to captivity. It's not always easy and often is expensive. Make sure you know who you are buying from and where the animals originate.
