Birthing movie

Postby Pink T. Monkey » Tue Jun 10, 2014 5:47 pm

I was lucky again this yr. to witness one of my skinks, Fiona giving birth. I've been sending this to the people who are waiting for one of her babies. Seems to be appreciated and makes the wait a little easier. enjoy!

Another great video John! I'm convinced you do nothing but sit around watching your skinks 24/7 though. 8)

I have to admit I obsessively stayed around home, whenever possible, hoping to to get some footage. Annie birthed on May 27th when I was out - and I"d been waiting on her too. Fortunately I saw sure signs from Fiona just before heading out for the day and cancelled any plans.

you'll notice in the vid. you don't actually see the birthing. Fiona wasn't comfortable with how close the camera was.
Even if I positioned the camera in her enclosure and removed myself from her space, she would look over her shoulder, bothered by the camera, and stop, even if the baby was beginning to exit the cloaca. I could have persisted but didn't want to stress her. I would leave the room and watch from the door. As soon as the baby (s) were delivered I quickly moved in to get some footage.
Glad you like it!
