Is he about to shed?

Postby MalakaisMum » Tue Mar 25, 2014 6:58 pm

Malakai hasn't been out to eat for at least the last 2 days. I checked on him 2 days ago and for the first time he got cranky with me. He flattened his body and hissed at me. Is he ready to shed? I'm a little worried he hasn't eaten.

That could be the case, since some shedding skinks display those behaviors. Is he a little bit more dull/milky colored than usual?

He is a little dull in colour. He decided to drag his lazy butt out today and had some worms and basked for about 10 minutes.

They can go for WEEKS without food. A healthy adult can go for many months. It's hard when you're a new owner, but don't worry - hissing, not eating for a couple days, moodiness - it is all normal and something you'll learn over the coming months / years. He very well might be shedding, but either way it isn't anything to be worried about at all. :D
