Hi there!
I was hoping someone would be able to give me some advice. My skink has weird looking scales near its mouth- they appear to be indented. The scaled on the rest of its body are completely normal. Is this a diet or humidity issue?
Some background:
I just found out yesterday "she" is actually a he (saw the sperm plugs). He is about 8 months old (I think?) and probably 15 inches.
He has (up until recently) always been a very good eater- and the scales have been like this for at least a few months. He is given- ground meat (chicken, beef), boiled chicken, she refuses to eat worms, canned cat food, egg occasionally, green beans, spaghetti squash, arugala, carrot (occasionally), etc (but he's not big on fruit). I am hesitant to think it is a diet issue unless anyone has any idea specifically on what could be missing.
I used to use a UV however it broke recently- and he never basked under it anyways (he's always under a box/log, under the mulch, or out roaming my room).
As far as humidity goes- I don't actually know what it is specifically, I normally turn a humidifier on once a day for a bit...but I am not sure if I should be keeping closer track on this?
Any advice is greatly appreciated, and I have attached some pics so you can see what I am talking about.
Thanks!

That is normal - some just have those odd looking scales around the mouth. Nothing to worry about unless you see any redness.

No worries.
A couple of mine have similar mouth scales.
