To feed or not to feed???

Hi again everyone

We've been really busy overhauling our big viv so our frillie will be moving into her new palace quicker than we thought. That means that our Merauke will be coming home really soon - within a few days hopefully as we are waiting for the frillie's sealant to finish curing!!!

The reptile shop feed our Merauke every 2 or 3 days. If they are due to feed him 1 or 2 days before we bring him home, should we let them carry on and feed him or should we tell them not to feed him as he would be more likely to eat when he comes home with us?

We have read that we should put him into his viv and not disturb him to allow him to settle and not to handle him until he has had his first meal. We just thought that if he was hungry he may be more willing to try some of our food when he gets home or will he not eat for a few days because he is in strange surroundings?

Your thoughts on this would be wonderful as we are in a real quandry over it

It won't matter either way. If I had my choice, I would say don't feed him right before you bring him home. It's just nice if they don't have anything in their digestive system to eject during transit.

hahaha me too. We don't drive so thinking on the smell on the bus!!!

How long is the bus ride? Meaning, how long from the time you pick him up until you get home? How do you plan to keep him warm during transit? Buses are not always heated very high since people tend to wear heavy coats this time of year, and this could potentially be a problem. Not to even mention something going wrong on the way.

The bus ride is extremely short - less than 5 minutes but it would be quicker than walking which is what we usually do. We might even ask our friend who has a car if she would mind helping, that way he stays nice and warm
