The bible is not for everyday care. It is a scientific look at the animals. Taxinomy, anatomy, wild diet, breeding cycles, etc. If you want to really understand your skink, or you're thinking of breeding, the bible is fantastic. If you're just a nerd, it's fantastic. If you just want a pet skink to cuddle and love and care for, spend the money on new decorations or something :)

I think it's worth every penny. Though it's a scientific book the text is manageable (even for someone who's first language isn't English) and it contains a lot of nice pictures.

Awesome book. The text is manageable, my 11 year old has read it cover to cover (he is a bit of a nerd though!) So happy to have this book!

IMO, it is a great book. I put off purchasing for a whole due to its cost. I'd much rather spend the money on another skink or another cage, etc. I did finally break down and bought it. I don't regret it and I read it a few times. I refer back to it more when someone has a specific question that's more advanced. But you definitely don't need it to raise a bts.

That being said, if a member here was interested,I would be willing to sell my copy. I'll have to track it down (I think I know where it is) and verify its still in good shape before I post it

I would love to read this book! What is the title and author?!

...and Reptile King, I might be interested in your copy if you can find it! I am kind of a textbook nerd. I have bought old veterinary text books over the years. I'd love to know more about skink anatomy. etc. I didn't know this book existed! Would love more details!

I consult my copy on a regular basis. I recently aquired a PTS and this book has great information on them as well (better than any caresheet I've found). I flip through it all the time. Although, as others have said, it is a scientific text so you have to really be interested.
