Wild Gravid Blotchy

Our resident wild blotchy turned up today after not seeing her for about two years. She has used our place for birthing for over 8 years, so no real surprise she is quite gravid. It's very early in the season for her, normally she gives birth in March or as late as early April.

Shes looking good norm,still some ballooning to do but quite solid for a wild one,she almost appears to have stripes running down her back,her bulk verses her lack of a fat tail is a good sign of wild gravid lasses,being you had an early start to spring with alot of heat she may be very early having babies this season

Norm,i have a feeling shes had her pre birth shed,looking at the pics again her rear end looks very late term blotchy,big fat girl but skinny in hip area and lower end,good signs of late term females,you might have another generation of little ones running about shortly

There dropping dates can be very early in warm years,especially if late winter early spring warmth allows early breeding,i remember you posted about cicadas popping out very early this year

She looks to be in incredible shape for a wild bluey. I love the "striped" pattern. Of course I loved the non-striped type too. The truth is, I don't think I have ever seen a blotchy that I didn't love.

Richard, bit of a mixed warm season this year. Cicadas were out very early and in huge numbers, Coels and Channelbill Cuckoos arrived early from Indonesia/Papua but now seem to have gone when usually they can be heard right through February before they book their return flight.

She was out basking late today but it was only 9°C overnight and quite overcast all morning. I hope I do get to see the young when she drops, they have a lot of places to hide in my yard. Usually because it is so late in the season when they are born they go straight into brumation for around 5-6 months.

Haha,yeah some of mine ive had to bring indoors to have babies as other adults have started brumating already,late april some years,its funny as easterns here are jan/feb droppers as aposed to march april for blotchies on average,last few years have been very odd weather wise
