prawns

Can our blueys eat prawns??? One person said yes on a site I belong too and the others say no. Then looking on another site, some say yes whilst others say defiantly no. Then whilst reading food care sheets, no one seems to mention prawns as an ok food, so, now im thinking its a nope for sure. Any answers here please

Shrimp is okay, but not as a frequent food item. I have fed shrimp to my skinks before and they like it, but I only do it very rarely.

I was the one that said yes. Just make sure it is unseasoned and not to feed frquently.

Alot of reptiles eat shrimp,prawns ,yabbies ect,freshwater turtles for example,i woyldnt use them as a staple,and fresh is best

Chewy LOVES shrimp as an occassional treat. It is one of the few foods that he races over to chow down on.

I would have definately said 'no', don't feed prawns or shellfish, but then, what are snails? - shellfish well, molluscs anyway. It would be interesting to find out if they do eat other small crustaceans in the wild. I can very well imagine an old man eastern going after a tiny yabbies.

I don't use them often but I found that shrimp were a really good way of hand taming wild skinks, mine all love them.

Laurie,down on mornington peninsula,theres easterns and blotchies that live on the coast and the foreshores around the bay,even seen them feeding on washed up dead fish ect at hightide line,it would be amazing the variety of stuff these guys would eat in the wild
