My New Northern & Setup

Hi there! I finally got around to taking some pictures of my girl and her setup. Picked her up about a month ago. The place where I got her thinks she is a girl but I don't know for sure. She's around a year and a half old and about 18 inches long I'd say. Her tank is a 50" long x 21" deep x 24" tall. There are a couple live plants in the tank but mostly fake foliage. After a lot of reading and asking questions on here what I do for feeding is a 35/65 meat to vegetables ratio. I use 35 grams of either chicken or beef along with 65 grams of mixed veggies (usually dandelion greens, rapini, carrot, cucumber) and run it through a food processor. I feed her every other day and every two feedings I make up a new batch. I'm also using Repashy Calcium Plus as a supplement every feeding. She gets fruit and bugs as treats from time to time too. She's a little bit shy when I reach into her tank but once I have her out she's a sweetheart. The ambient temperatures range from low 70s to the mid 80s with a basking spot around 95. I noticed when I got her home she was a few toes missing. Would this be from lack of humidity or improper diet and is it something I should have checked out by a vet? Other than that I think I'm doing everything right. She is definitely one of the coolest reptiles I've ever owned. If you guys have any advice for me I would love to hear it! Thanks!

Looks very nice. Sadly, I have a feeling that pothos plant will be trampled to death very quickly.

If she is that old you will probably want to feed slightly less often, but as long as she is eating well and not getting overweight that should be fine.

The missing toes are probably from a lack of appropriate humidity levels before which can lead to stuck shed and toe loss. Check the remaining toes to make sure they don't have stuck shed on them and soak the skink in warm water to help remove any stuck skin.

I'm sure more seasoned bluey owners will have some more advice as well.

Thanks! I thought the same thing about the plants but they're actually holding up pretty good! She shed soon after I got her and I noticed the missing toes when I was checking for stuck shed. She had a little bit stuck but a warm soak did the trick.

I took Hunter, my tge, to the vet with some toe issues I found after I received him -- we took him to the vet and he told us not to worry really.

He did prescribe some Baytril to either make sure no infection came up due the the nail falling off, or to keep safe if it indeed turned out to be gout (because we thought it may have been gout due to the swelling), I can't honestly remember. He told us the nail was too far gone (in which it did come off), so if you see the slightest bit of abnormality, definitely try to soak it and get it off so it won't be too late.

If the toe is already gone, you probably do not have much to worry about.

The toes are definitely already gone. Looks like they have been for a while.
