Is My Northen Gravid

hi guys,

this is the first time i have tried to bred blue tongues, see attached a picture of my girl hypo northern.

she has put on around 100 grams since last mating and we are currently at 110 days.

she now has stopped eatting and a few days ago she dropped a yellow egg sack looking thing that was the size of a 10 cent coin or quarter for americans

what do you think

Those are called "slugs", which in turn is nothing more than an unfertilized ova, the males sperm did not reach to the ovulated egg.

Keep an eye out still, though. Can't tell if she is gravid through this picture.

yeah i will take a better picture of her that was the only one i had of her on my phone, she is quiet large at bottom and top now

Some females do not show many signs of being gravid, so a picture is not a be all end all in this case. The slug is an indicator that there may be something on the way, so keep an eye out. You never really know if she is gravid or not until she either gives birth or passes her term.

That's a great looking animal. I can't wait to see more pictures. It is not normal for a BTS to drop slugs, then give birth to live babies days later, but it does happen occassionally. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Sounds like she dropped a slug,hopefully she has a few babies still,fingers crossed for you,let us know how she goes
