Irian Jaya temps??

Ho guys so, I'm a bit confused. In the caresheet on this side, it is said, that the night temps should be around 65-70 degrees, but i have read about the climate in Indonesia, and the temps are much hotter at night than 70. What do you think is good??

Also, if you have some comments on the basking spot temps for Irian Jaya, i would be happy to hear them

I have studied from multiple climate pages, and the T. gigas seem to live in a much warmer climate than the temperatures the caresheet recommends.. but it doesn't really matter, they are very adaptable to things like that.

The caresheet temperature recommendation works, the Papuan climate works, and heck.. my skinks lived outside when it got down to 43 at night (Cold front whoops!)

The preferred internal body temperature is 90 degrees, from my observation and recordings, whatever you set your basking temperature at is up to you. If you set it at 95 he will spend more time basking to reach the preferred 90 internal body temperature than he would with a 100 degree basking spot.

90 at night?? Isn't that a little hot?? And I've considered letting my terra go down to around 70 at night, but maybe i had some breedingplans, and im afraid of not being able to get my skink to go in bermation, if its use to 70...

No, not at night, you let it drop at night. That is why you see them bask first thing in the morning. It is good for temperatures to drop at night.

It is said that IJ's roam in lands a lot like the Northern territory of Australia, so it will be okay to let them brumate/estivate with nighttime temperatures going down to 65-60, as long as the daytime temperatures are still warm.

I don't know how such a assumption could be drawn. The majority of the Northern Territory is desert.

Likewise, æstivation would be highly unlikely in a wet climate such as I.J.

It's only the very north of Australia that is a more tropical climate. NT (Northern Territory) encompasses a lot of desert as well. I know what you meant, but saying northern territory causes confusion with the state of NT.

They can adjust, just like humans. If you give a proper temperature gradient, it won't even matter anyways.

Even in hot climates they can find areas to cool right off,escape the heat,one of the joys of offering large temp gradients is it lets them go where they want at any time
