Merauke #6 in his new tank

Since i set up the new stack of enclosures, i had a few extra tanks laying around. I decided to redo one of the Northern enclosures for Merauke #6

I have a ton of drab, ugly setups to... i just dont post pictures of them Havent you noticed that ive never posted pics of the cages my easterns are in? Or my Ij's for that matter. Susanns enclosures are FAR out of my league. I want to throw mine out and start over everytime she uploads pictures

I could relate.. my enclosures are as plain as they get.. 4" substrate, depending on the cage, a couple hides, and a 10" water bowl.

I'm thinking about making a rat breeding rack for my skink, except bigger! That way they will have a lot of room, and I can still put a heating lamp on them.

That would work well. I've seen it done that way for bearded dragons using cement mixing tubs

Now I need to go buy the wood and some stain to rid the smell/fumes for the pine.

No problem. They are pretty cheap to. I think 10-15 bucks each.

You should check out BHB's beardie racks on SnakeBytesTV. Something like that would probably work well.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm talking about. When I REALLY start getting a collection of gigas, I'm going to make like 6 groups of 6 racked racks. Saves room and money, and you can put a heating lamp on it. I'm surprised not a lot of people do this.

Well, personally I don't like racks because they don't look as good, and I want my skinks to be more part of our lives, not tucked away in drawers
But WHEN I'm producing more animals, I'll have to rethink things.

Oh, and I also happen to know that Valley hasn't posted pictures of even nearly all he has... I don't know how he could possibly produce as many babies as he does without several racks.

I do have lots and lots of racks. I love the space that they save, and how easy they make my cleaning days since I can just swap out tubs. I don't like the idea of keeping adult skinks in tubs though. I will say that it works VERY well, but in case you hadn't noticed from all the pictures of skink cages in my livingroom, I prefer to have them somewhere that I can watch them easily.

Me too! And I want them to be able to easily see us.

Yeah, I only think that nocturnal lizards (like leos) should be kept in racks as adults. It has been proven to work for beardies though, so its really more personal preference than anything else.
