A couple more questions

Sorry for all the questions but i just want to make sure i get everything right. So I went to the pet store to get some things for my new skink today. I got repti bark bedding, a 150 watt basking bulb, his basking rock is a good 2 feet from the lamp so i figured i would need a 150 watt, a couple stick on thermometers, and some meal worms. Are these thing all OK? I already had a uvb light for him and everything else. I also needed a water bowl but they wanted almost $30 for a water bowl, so I just went home and found a Tupperware container that is probably about a inch or so deep and a good 7 inches long by probably 3 or 4 wide. So my question is the size OK and also is it OK to use a plastic Tupperware for his water dish. Also the basking rock that the Lady gave me with him is very small, its not big enough for his whole body to lay on. Where can I get a good basking rock for him? I couldn't find any at pet smart.

Anything is fine for a water bowl, it doesn't have to be a "reptile" one. But you may want to think about getting one that won't tip over when he's crawling into, and out of it, and most Tupperware bowls aren't heavy enough to not tip from a BTS's weight unless they are full of water --and maybe even then. I use glass oven pans for my adults; even empty they won't tip even if 3 skinks were hanging on the side of it. ...not that there are 3 skinks in one cage, but still. I use glass pie plates for my smaller guys.

Floor tiles can make good, cheap basking rocks, and if you glue some legs on it it can double as a warm hide too.

all sounds good,but id invest in a temp gun or at least a probe thermostat to accuratly measure cage temos,basking spot temp ect,not stick on ones are much chop for that,especially with basking spot temps

you could try looking at places that sell rock,probably alot cheaper than pet shops,theres always slate tiles ect to

Thanks a lot you guys are awesome, I would be pretty lost without you guys answering all of my questions.I will do that I know I have some glass baking pans lying around. And that's a good idea using floor tile for a basking rock I will definitely have to look into getting some floor tile. Also I just measured my bluey hes 20 inches long. Is that pretty standard for a full grown irian jaya?

Twenty inches is a good size for an Ij. Ask as many questions as you need, someone will always be on here to answer them.

My IJ is around 3-4 years in captivity and 20". My first IJ was 21".

My big female is 21, so I'd say 18-21 is average size
