That's an interesting question. I keep a fair number of blueys, and have 2 or 3 that are probably my favorites. The weird thing is that each one is a favorite for a different reason. One is just so incredibly beautiful that I hardly notice if her temperment is good or not. Another is so ridiculously "friendly" that I couldn't tell you if she is attractive or not. A third is so fun to watch that I get caught up just watching him for hours. I never really think about if he is pretty or nice.

In the end, I have many that blow me away. That is why I rarely even check their water unless I have at least an hour to spend. On any given day, all of them have the ability to distract me from the rest of life.

I think personality is the biggest factor for me. My northern is so curious and outgoing that it is hard not to fall in love with her.

Level of activity plays the biggest part. Apollo is always roaming around exploring and rearranging his tank. Rocko is more of a lazy bum and hides most of the time. But Rocko is more fun to have out of the tank because Apollo becomes restless quickly and Rocko will just hang out for hours.

Oh, that's a great question!

I have one clear favourite, Kiah, my big boy eastern. He was neglected and had a really rough start, broken leg with the bone sticking through, gout, ribs caved in due to MBD, a bit missing from the end of his tail, an infected ulcer on his head, partial blindness, wow, that list is endless! I just love him because he's just so cool and calm, in spite of everything he went through. He has a wary eye, keeping watch, never missing a thing, even with his eyesight now really poor. He's calm and adorable when you hold him, wraps his tail around you and just has the best controlled tongue-flick for picture taking!

But then there is Nippy, one of my shinglebacks who is just impossibly handsome, has gorgeous greenish eyes and he's just part of the furniture. Oh, and Jade, is the cutest little thing, some of the shingles have the best and most impossible yellow markings, freckles and eyeballs! He he! I think I could make them all favourites when I have them in my hands!

I only have one skink so that makes it easy but Coomassie is super personable. He is always up for adventures and coming out to play. He loves to burrow in blankets and give big skinky kisses!

Also, Mel, it isn't just you. My husband loves the mean reptiles. His favorite is our tokay that will tear off your face and wear it as a mask if you let him.

picking a fave is hard though,im quite fond of my old vic alpine lass,mainly because ive had her for close to 20 years and oddly in all that time shes never hissed or huffed at me,which is odd,only matched by my old line stumpies

I only have one skink but from previous reptiles I've kept I'd say personality is most important. I tend to fall in love with animals that are independent, outgoing, and explorative. I also like a challenge. If they require time to trust you and tame down, I feel like my bond with them is stronger. Charlie my Northern fits right in with all of that. The fact that he/she is getting huge and has beautiful colors is definitely a plus too.

we have Eight - All Northerns. I Love them All But definitely Some More Than Others And All For Different Reasons.

My First Was Stubbs. He Was so Close To Death And Pulled Through Even Though I Knew Nothing About Reptiles. He Is Super Affectionate With Me But Not Others. He Later Became A Dad To Over 50 Babies.

Oscar Rose is My Female Caramel I Got From Ray. She's My Babies' Mamma And Very Sweet And Tender. She Started Having Two Of Her Babies In The Water dish And Actually Let Me Lift Her Up A Little So They Were Delivered In My Hand. She is Easily Hand fed And Is Always The First To Come Out In The Outside Enclosure.

Speckles Is The Prettiest Because Of The Bold Striping And White Flecking.

Gator Is A 2012 Baby. her Skull Was Compressed From Birth. She Seemed To Function Fine So I Decided To Keep Her And Just Give Her Away To someone Who Would Love Her. As She Grew, I Realized How Disabled She Is. I Believe She Is Blind And A bit Simple Minded. I Have Also Learned That She Has A Cleft Pallet Which You Can See When She Yawns. she Always Comes To The Glass And Demands To Be Held When She Hears My Voice. I Hand Feed Her Because She Has Trouble finding The Dish, so I Attribute At Least Part Of Her Pacing To A pavlov's Dog response.

Stubbs Will Always Have My Heart, But I Think I Love Gator The Most.I Guess I'm Just A Sucker for The Underdog.
