Wow Stunning Hypo Eastern! Very interesting thread! I would like to learn more about line breeding. It seems some breeders do this to get a certain color. This must not be harmful as it would be with Mammals? I have a stunning female I plan to breed this next season, and hope to reproduced her colors in some of the offspring. Unfortunately this picture doesn't show just how orange her side are. I'll look for some others.

It presents the same risks as it does with mammals. Anytime you try to isolate certain desired traits in a breeding project, you run the risk of isolating harmful traits as well. It is a slippery slope we sometimes walk as breeders when we do this, and many do not realize it. That being said, I would be lying if I said I was not totally intrigued these photos of Rays skinks.
