My new little northern!

Postby lucasrusinak » Fri Jul 12, 2013 4:15 pm

Hey everyone, my names is Lucas and ive been on the forum for a few months now researching and looking for a blue tongue skink, and about 2 and a half weeks ago i finally got one!

to start, ive wanted a blue tongue skink since i was probably about 10 years old and im now 20. when i was younger i had all sorts of pets between me and my brother including different fat tailed geckos, bearded dragons and a few other lizards and snakes. I go to school upstate and i live in a house with a few friends, and this past semester met my neighbor who has a bearded dragon and i instantly fell back in love with reptiles. From then on i made it my mission to get a bluey.

here i am a handfull of months latter and i finally got one! I purchased a newborn from Jaren Martineau, who i have to say was wonderful to deal with! i was emailing him multiple times a day and he was very patient with answering every question i had. back to the skink, he/she is just over a month old and is still quite shy. it burrows all over and hides most of the day which is expected. I tried to let it be, only holding it two or three times during the first 2 weeks. Now that ive had it for alittle over 2 weeks, im excited to finally start handling and taming it. Ive been feeding it canned dog food with collard greens, green beans and squash mixed in and sometimes ill throw in some papaya or tomatoes.

ive posted on here a few times, so i figured it was about time for a formal introduction. here are a few pictures of my bluey, i just noticed today when i took it out that its first shed has begun!

as far as names go, im thinking either pogo or neero, what do you guys think?!

a few days ago before the shed began

So cute, I love its little face! Aren't tomatoes a bit citrus-y? I like the name Pogo!!
