I agree with Fatal on the yummy treat bit - they associate you with eating instead of being eaten!! Even though Royal is tame I still give him half a blueberry when I take him out. And since he gets pouting and wants to come out after I put him in, I give him the other half once he's back in his tank, lol.

Thanks so much for your advice, we really appreciate it. The good news is we managed to get him out this evening, we took out his tunnels and waited for him to calm down - initially hissed as we disturbed him but he actually walked out onto my partner's hand and ate some chicken and then had a tentative wander about, not bad at all!! we were very impressed! He still hides from us all the time in his tunnels but if we take them out he eventually calms so that is good, just hope if we keep doing this everyday he will get used to us and not hide away so much. Our beardie Eric was less than impressed with him roaming about tho! :s Black bearded from his viv.... oh dear!

Way to go Keep it up. And actually, enjoy this period. Soon enough you'll have a skink who wouldn't flinch if a bomb went off under it. The period of newness, where you're getting used to each other, doesn't last too long
