Eastern? What is it?

Postby Reptile- mad » Thu Jan 10, 2013 6:33 pm

Hi guys,
I have just recently put a deposit on a blue tongue skink but didn't ask for a picture. :noknow: Well, I asked for a picture recently and got one. They had advertised this blue tongue skink as a hypo eastern and it was $248. Well the picture wasn't quite what I expected. Is it an Eastern? It looks like some of the toes are missing but maybe I'm just being paranoid. What you think?

That's an eastern.
Whether or not it's a hypo, I don't know...
I zoomed in on the picture, but nothing is leading me to believe that it's missing toes.
Their is poop in his face and a dead cricket under him which might make sanitary conditions questionable, but it looks healthy in my opinion.

Yeh, pretty cool eastern, but probably not actually a hypo. That price would be good here in the States, but seems kind of high for OZ. Aren't they usually like $50 there?

Looks like the lower right foot has all its toes! They really could have removed the poop and DEAD crickets out of the way before they snapped the picture. People are just freaking stupid.... and don't think. I would question how clean they keep their enclosures. ***not to alarm you but the skink looks like it has some white speckles on it.. can indicate mites. COULD... not has mites. Hopefully it does not and I hope I am wrong.

Yes, it's an eastern, but way overpriced! Where are you located?

I'm guessing that's a petshop price tag.

http://www.aussiepythons.com/forum/sale ... -x-198497/ this is more indicative of what price private breeders sell for.

This always happens to me. See "eastern" in the title. Open link. Look at picture and go "OMG I WANT THAT SKINK". Look at OP's information and realize they are in Australia. Profanities ensue.

I hate to bring this up, but I actually seen this skink on a website. They have them labled as Reduced pattern. If you click the third picture, looks almost exactly like him.

Looks like a garden variety eastern, worth about $20.

I am not well versed in Easterns, but you are probably right. I just thought she might have bought from these people.
