Hi all,
Smudge has been eating little but that's still something does this seem too thin too you? He is 2 years old. I am really freaking out he is my first reptile and I love him so much and I have made many other threads about him not eating and made temperature adjustments but to no avail. Should I take him to the vet? Please help!!!! Also what is the ideal weight?!?!

Re: Smudge
smudge looks great.
he has more weight on him than my male that came out of brumation
also, if its starting to become winter in Aus its natural to eat a little less.

Re: Smudge
Linnea its towards the end of summer here and been a bit hotter than usual
Reptile mad your easterns weight looks fine to me,pretty solid,in your other thread u mentioned hiding up the warm end and hiding alot, being nervous of people,if hides are warm enough they will happily hide in cover, the wildones do it here, safer for them perhaps
Are u sure it isnt eating when no ones about as well, the weight it has on doesnt show a skink in need of packing on alot of weight,so the little often is probably all it wants, looks in tip top shape in my eyes
My suggestion is still try lowering cool end temp, but could be hard if rooms hot to,not long now till temps slowly start to drop, try not to stress to much, but if concerned feel free to ask

Re: Smudge
Like Richard has mentioned, the hot temperatures can really have an effect on their intake. Many of mine have stayed hidden for a week or so, only venturing out in the cooler mornings. When it's been in the late 30's and early 40's, they eat markedly less, sometimes not at all. Your eastern looks a good size, so may just be swinging a little with this hot summer and only picking here and there.
How often do you offer food? When food is plentiful, they are often not hungry when offered food. Cutting feeds down to twice or three times a week will ensure he has an appetite when food is offered.
Is he otherwise active and bright?

When's to the vet and they basically said all the things that you did! Daddy wasn't happy about that!
