Can he eat this?

We bought my dogs some new dog food and it came with a large sample of these frozen raw food nuggets. They're made with human-grade meat, some organic produce (I looked at the ingredients list, and the produce was no Citrus and I was happy to see that Kale was toward the top of the list), ground up bones meal for calcium, and organic minerals and vitamins. I thought it might be another good way to get meat in my skink's diet, and it would mix well with greens and vegetables. Any thoughts?

Generally they can eat most things in small quantities, even things that would not be considered good for them. Not that I'm advocating that. A well known member of the group once used the term once explained that they don't need to be treated as "mamby pamby" animals to try to highlight their resilience. Mine love nothing more than a good chomp on a dried out chicken carcass - bones and all. I put this in the "don't try this at home category" but they live outside and are nearly 2ft long. So horses for courses. Actually I find that there is some stuff they won't eat, they seem to have a sense for what is good for them or not. It is there long term diet that needs attention - what forms staples etc. I don't mind mixing up some treats for them - what other life enrichment do you have if you are a skink? :-)

haha they aren't ALWAYS smart enough not to eat things bad for them...one of mine once snuck a lucky charms marshmellow...those arent even good for HUMAN consumption! She was SO proud of herself

They do have an idea of what is ok to eat, but saying that, they would stay with their personal favourites over what's good for them, I'm sure. Suunto would live solely on carrots, given half a chance. She'll pick out a shred of grated carrot from a mountain of other things, so I have to watch that she gets enough of the other things, too. Not that carrot is a bad choice, but it definitely won't give her all she needs for a growing girl
