Suunto, first shed this Summer

At last! One of my disheveled looking skinks has decided to tart themselves up a bit for summer! Suunto had a rough brumation and thanks to a voracious appetite, she is now a little porkster. I've been eagerly anticipating them all shedding, but Suunto is the first of the group. She's had crusty eyes from what looked to be stuck on scales, which kept closing up and the eyelids would stick together. After at least a months worth of daily eye baths, she has finally started shedding, with her eyes suddenly appearing less peepy and tired and she is now all bright eyed and looking alert!

It's a lazy approach, with only her shiny head looking glossy in the sun, so far . I think she got tired after she got rid of the annoying ear bags flapping inside her head and seems content to wait until tomorrow to deal with the rest, like any perfectly sleepy shingleback would do.

Amazing what a shed can do for them,my youngest female was similar,eyes wernt sticking shut though,had to help her shed and found she had a fair amount of retained shed

You should start seeing a few shed now

Wow, that is an extremely beautiful looking bluey. I love the face, and those cute little eyes ^.^

She still look like a baby in these pictures and she's kind of little, compared to the others, but she's gained so much weight since coming out of brumation. I'm so pleased to see her looking all shiny and glowing!

She looks great Lea, those little eyes are not so sleepy now.

I really like the way Shinglebacks shed in one piece instead of the explosion of bits the others do.

Beautiful! I really wish I could see her in person. Shinglebacks are truly unique. Quite possibly the most awesome species on the planet. That is still up for debate though.

Agreed, with all of the above! She finished shedding today, well almost. I went out tonight to find she had shed all but one foot! She obviously went a bit bonkers trying to get it all off, as there were large pieces of her all over the place! Even the other shingles had scales on them. She must have used them as scratching posts I'm sure she will deal with the foot sock over the next day or so.
