Blue Tongue Hissing Noise

I recently took home my new BTS and he seems very happy in his new home. He burrows eats and does everything normally but when I go to pick him up he makes this weird hissing noise. The noise sounds like he's exhaling through his nose very strongly, should I be concerned or is this normal?

its normal. he's still getting used to you and is probably just a little scared and hisses. both of mine stopped hissing after a few months.

It's called a huff, and it's a very normal noise. It's basically saying "I'm here, don't hurt me". Some skinks get so calm they don't bother huffing, some will always huff. I just don't worry about it.

If the skink is very upset it will hiss with it's mouth open, flare it's tongue, and threaten to bite you. Then you need to back off and give it time to calm down.
