Aquatic vs. Terrestrial Snails

I've been toying with the idea of beginning a snail farm for my blue tongue for some time now but the weather here has gotten cold (some days.. crazy weather lately) and I cannot seem to find any snails to begin with. However, the pet store has a constant stock of aquatic snails that I actually have some experience with and was wondering if these were an alternative anyone has tried.

I'm doubtful that there's any precendent on this subject, but if anyone has any definitive "yes" or "no", I'll take any advice. I obviously do not want to feed them to my pet if it is in any way harmful to him or even if there is any question of harm, but I honestly don't imagine that there is much difference anatomically between your typical garden snail and the run-of-the-mill aquatic snails at the pet store.

I had a fish tank with a snail problem briefly. They were tiny snails and I started feeding them off to Coomassie. Then I ran out of snails. He loved them but they were tiny little buggers.
