Bluey not interested in roaches? :(

Ok, so i have a bit of a problem. my baby blue tongue is only 3 months old and has always loved eating anything that moves, so i automatically assumed he would love woodies (roaches similar to dubias) so i get a whole bunch thinking id make a colony and low and behold she is not interested. I usually feed him every day or two being so young and a big appetite. I ended up sticking a slow roach into her enclosure and she ate that one happily, but not interested in any others for some reason and i cannot keep putting them in the enclosure because they are too fast for him and they just bury and hide themselves obviously. Ive put him into a small tote bin with a few roaches, not interest. tried in the dry bath, not interested. tried sprinkling with calcium, not interested, yet he will eat anything else i go to offer him instead... im so very disappointed as i spent a fair bit of money setting up a colony for him.

Should i maybe just wait a few days until he is much hungrier? or is it just something he might not be interested, which would really be annoying Any suggestions??? Was really looking forward to seeing him go crazy for them like most blueys do

I would wait a few days and try again. It can take them a while to come around to certain foods depending on how hungry they are and if they know they can hold out for their favorite food.

well considering im a softy, thats probably what he is doing the spoilt brat. Ill hold out a few more days then i think. hopefully then they will become something he will enjoy considering all i put together for the colony XD I really shouldve ordered a few to see if he enjoyed them first

Really? how strange for a bluey. mine usually likes any insects i offer, as long as its moving. Thats why i didnt think twice about roaches

Woodies can be slowed down by placing however many are needed for each feed in a container and popping it in the fridge for 10-15 minutes. They get hyper at around 30°C.

might try doing that as well after a few days, problem is, he doesnt even show interest.only that one that was in his tank with some calcium powder on it. walks straight past or even over other ones

my bluey was fed crickets and veggies as a main food source before, but then i switched him to dog food and veggies. i still continued to offer him crickets/zophobas as treats since i assumed they would be tasty and fun (and giving him a varied diet), but......he either ignores them or chews on them and spit them out. more often the latter.

bts are just too picky. once they get favourites, you have to be stubborn. if hes hungry, he will eat. guarantee.
are the roaches appropriately sized?

keep up the good work. its always hard when they dont appreciate the food you give them D: good thing is that it can be reversed into becoming their favourite food.....more or less.

Yep, sure are. I have sizes from 1/8 of an inch, to 2 inches. just not interested, I might try to make them his favourite food then after buying all the stuff i need for them, and its sad to say it, but i was excited to make the colony for him lol. Hopefully waiting until he is hungry enough to have a few will make him enjoy them enough to have them regularly. They are great protein for a baby bluey.
