Ainsley's Missing D:

Postby CricketForestwater » Thu Sep 20, 2012 4:37 am

I let him out to explore the living room for a while and (stupidly) left him unattended for a short time. He's gone and hid somewhere, and I cannot seem to find him though I've checked in all the places he was likely to go. I had closed off the doors to the other rooms, but there is a small gap under them that he might very well have gotten under.

Is there a way to coax him out? Or will I have to wait util he comes out on his own? I know that there is no possible way for him to get outside, so I'm not worried about that, I just don't want to end up squishing him accidentally or anything. I know this was a very stupid mistake, but is there anything I can do?

dont panic just yet, it might take a few days even a few weeks for him to come out from hiding. If it were me id put out some nice food and something that would look warm for him to hide in. If its been a few days you could even cook something in a slow cooker or start cooking really yummy smelling meaty meals. might make him come out with his mouth watering. but dont stress, just be careful around the house. they can go for weeks without eating if need be. I hope you find him soon xx

If you have tiny spaces under a desk, under the couch, tv type stands or tables, anything that would be a small space to squeeze into they like...under the fridge where it's warm, under the stove, etc. Just look every tiny place, they can get themselves into random places.

I've checked in those types of areas and still couldn't find him...though he very well may have managed to get behind the ground-level cabinets since I live in an apartment and they tend to have spaces behind them. It also doesn't help that we tend to keep our apartment rather cool, so he's probably not moving around much anyway.

I'll figure some way to lure him out. Thank you all for your advice :)

Spend time sitting quietly and listening for movement. I tend to find my missing skinks when I'm just relaxing and hear them rustling around.

Yes, you definitely hear them moving a bit and then a sneeze every once in a while that gives it away.

Back when Rocket was a little one, he got away from me. I didn't find him for 3 days. One morning I woke up and he was pacing back and forth in front of his tank which was on the ground. He is a smart bugger, found his way back home where the heat and food is lol.

Ainsley is back! My hubby came home from grocery shopping to find him wandering around the kitchen looking for food.

Thank you all for the encouragement and advice. He will not go wandering unattended again >_>
