The hard part was finding one, I dislike ordering pets online so that was to be a last resort. Eventually I found an 8 month old at my local PetSmart.
They really couldn't answer a few of my questions, such as gender, or exact species. One of them looked it over and said female and that's good
enough for me, I have no intent on breeding. It'll just be a little awkward if little Anastasia turns out to be a boy. As for species, my best guess is
either Irian Jaya or Merauke (though she was listed as Tiliqua Scincoides). She's very hissy at first, but calms right down after a few minutes of
handling, hopefully after she's older and knows me better she'll outgrow this.
Part of the reason I bought her was the care they were giving her. The substrate was hard bark chips, not deep enough for her to burrow. I have her
in 4-6 inch deep coconut now and she loves rooting around in it. The diet they were giving her wasn't very healthy either, mealworms and crickets.
I'm getting her on a mix of dog food, beet greens, and summer squash right away, with the occasional horn worm or banana. Starting in the spring
I might start breeding snails for her too.
Now the pictures. If you can correct my identification, please do. (please note I intend on getting a second hide for the warm end, but want to find one with a bigger opening, a difficult task it seems)

Is there a way to make the pictures appear smaller?
