Caipora dinner video + recent pic

My Meruake is 8.5 months old and getting big :] I have a new video of him eating his new dinner mix for the time it lasts till i buy more food for him and the extreme tegu. (well the meat mix, but the veggies and greens always differ. this time was zucchini + squash. meat was a mix of mix of zucchini + squash from the garden as well as steak, chicken heart, a little chicken liver, ground turkey, and chicken gizzards with powdered egg shells for calcium and multivitamin supplement.)

Hmmmm last month he was 19 inches, but he's definitely looking larger lately. Let me go find where my bf has him roaming and find a tape measure. I'll get back to you soon on his current length! How long / how old is your Meruake?? I am curious to see size comparisons as well, especially if they are about the same age.

Well, I am not too sure on age. The lady I bought him from had him for 6 months, and she said he was at a pet store "for a long time" but when I met up with her she said he was definitely under a year old . So I am guessing 7-9 months old. But when I measured him about 1.5 weeks ago he was 14.5" long.

Oh my! It looks like my guy has a lot of catching up to do! I kinda thought he was small for his age... or Caipora is just huge!
Actually, I should try weighing him next time I take him out.

Absolutely! I will have to make sure to start measuring him every month and see if he starts growing any faster now. I wonder if him being in a small terrarium slowed his growth...?
But yeah, it will be very interesting to see how they compare when they are both done growing!

A small terrarium doesn't stop them from growing, but it can start to make them deformed after time. It's more likely the diet and prior care that the skink was receiving, although I'm not sure about the average lengths of Merauke's that are around 8 months old and how much they can vary even if they end up the same length about, so who knows. Plus being young and if not too poorly cared for in the past, he/she may start growing even faster now that they're in your care. :]
