Marbles arrival!
Hey everyone!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pctPXcPQfb0&feature=plcp
Guess who arrived today? =o
I just wanna say, James he is absolutely beautiful, and he is so calm and relaxed. It's so surprising to see him look you straight in the face too like, "hey!" xD!
So far he's enjoying his new tank, sleeping and with James help he's drinking. Being a lazy lil skink. I just wanna thank him so much, this is absolutely wonderful and you have nothing to worry about, he's in good hands! He's going to be a healthy spoiled little skink!
Once things settle down I'll start taking pictures of him in his enclosure! This is only the starter until I get my money for a bigger tank, but he's right where I can see him and he can see me constantly.
Excuse my bed hair, it was pretty early in the morning!

Re: Marbles arrival!
Congrats on your new acquisition! Did he come from James Wilson's recent litter of Northerns? If so, with those genetics, he is going to be a very nice skink.
All the best,
David

@Browdoin55 - Yeah it was! He was so nice, it was a joy talking to him on the phone! And I have a feeling he will be, he's already so gorgeous! I am extremely happy, if I ever purchase another, I'm keeping him in mind.
@Bluecharlotte - Thanks!!
@BruinsEv - I am so sorry! I hope the little guy will be alright!

Thanks for posting this! I always worry about the little guys when I ship them. The suspense was killing me. I was so excited to see the box get opened and what was inside even though I was the one who packed it. He is a great little skink, and I am sure you are going to do very well with him. Thanks again!

Yep he did, and I think he is going to be a real looker. He just shed again, and he really looks nice. Thanks!

Ah, James, if only every breeder/seller shared your level of concern and care for their animals! I'm afraid I've dealt with more than a few box 'em and forget 'em types. Folks like you are a credit to the hobby.
Between breeder and new owner, that little Northern has had a very good go of it!
Cheers,
David

Re: Marbles arrival!
Thanks David, I really appreciate the kind words, and it means a lot to me because I really do care. That being said, there are many great sellers here on this form that are perfect examples of knowledgeable sellers who really care. Just check out the mods and the site owner here and you will see what I mean. They are great examples of what the entire reptile hobby should be like, and as a result, they were largely responsible for me eventually getting back into it after my long break away from the reptile hobby/business.

Re: Marbles arrival!
Haha, thanks James! I really admire how you care for the babies, I totally understand your worry - I could hardly sleep the night before!
I'll post pictures soon, he's settled in very nice and likes to explore. He sometimes heaves at me when I surprise him by accident, but other than that he seems happy to explore! He won't eat yet, but I plan to keep offering food til he's ready!
I hope to have em posted by tonight.
It was also a joy talking to you, James, I do hope we do it again, even if its not about skinks!

Re: Marbles arrival!
I agree with the general consensus here. In Australia, I'll never have the pleasure of getting a skink from James, but his reputation speaks for him. He is definitely a very well respected and knowledgeable breeder and keeper. Excellent work, James!

You raise an excellent point, James. There are some admirable folks in this subset of the hobby and especially on this site; it must be something about these charming lizards.

Here are some pics!

Sitting out in the living room with me, haha. He went poop and peed a few times, but he's very beautiful and nice.

Re: Marbles arrival!
I also believe he is shedding too, I notice him waddling around the tank rubbing on everything and it appears that some dead skin is on him.
Also, do tiny skinks always look as if they're breathing quickly? I notice on the sides of his neck they pulse, where I'd assume the lungs are, just near the front limbs. Sometimes after drinking he'll sneeze, but I figure its because he drank a little too quickly.
