What is the average length for a 1 year old bts? Any answers would be much appreciated

there is no average per say,they can be adult size by that age,or still quite small,depending on many things,eg hiw much they are fed,if they are cooled fir there first winter,some do it even when u try keeping them active

i like to let them take a while to grow,some of mine arent full size at 4 years of age,though they brumate for 5 odd months outdoors each year

indoors we tend to keep them consistantly warmer,with constant access to food so growth potential is huge if you allow it,you will find theres no straight answer,as it varies between keepers,but by that age id say average would be half grown to near on full size

We were told our merauke was 5 months old trying to work out whether that is right he/she is about 18 inches long is that too big for 5 months?

As Richard said it really depends on a lot of things. Some grow faster than others, but subspecies plays a part as well. Some don't grow as long as others do. For example my Merauke is 7 months and 18 inches long, so yours might be around the same age give or take a few months.

im afraid it was I who said that it was a bit odd for it to already be eighteen inches at 5 months of age.

what i did not see what that she was a meruake. im sorry. they do grow larger, on average, from the other species.

however, i still think 45 cm before even half a year has passed is very large o__o its my skinks full lenght (minus 2 cm). but he is of course a northern.

there all capable of rapid growth if conditions supply it,18 inches at 5 months is big,but is possable,but sometimes people forget how old they really are,especially when its months,so could actually be older,especially if its an imported one

That's ok linnea and thankyou for your reply, I was just confused as the shop said he/she was a 2012 baby and I was thinking maybe they had lied Not that i would mind as she looks healthy and is eating and pooing like she should which is all that matters, had her out today and for the first time she didn't huff at me and ate a treat (grape) from my fingers very gently and even when she could still smell it on my fingers she didn't bite me

nice looking skink,she could very well be that age,being that age,she was born from wildcaught parents or farmbred,as 2012 bred babies in northern hemisphere are only being born now if captive bred there

the long tails of that form also makes them seem alot longer as apposed to other species,yours looks solid to though,if from pet store,and impoted the week old could mean its been there for a week and they assume its newborn

but end of the day you can only go off what seller says,and theres every chance it is 5 months old,and with the right conditions and supply of food,that size at that age is acheivable

also not 100 percent but she could be a he,possable hemipenal buldging,solid looking noggin ect ect
