Is there anyone in Canada or the US that breed halmaheras and ship to Canada?

No one breeds halmahera's. (As far as I'm aware)

Yup, halmahera's are not CBB in North America yet. I think there's some in Europe maybe. Anyways, you'd have to go with WC or wait a few years until I add them to my collection  they're on my list.

Kripp, you're most ethical choice IMO is talk to Switzer Reptiles and see if they'll get one for you. It's still WC, but at least they give a bit of a *darn about the animals. Remember, no matter what you are still supporting the WC industry, and that's an ethical choice to make. Anyways, Switzer would get them and ship them within the USA, but not to Canada. You'd have to have it shipped to a friend down there, drive down and bring it back up. If you can't drive, and are willing to blow loads of cash, talk to www.reptileexpress.ca about them bringing it over the border and shipping to your door for you.

You're unethical choice to keep your eyes peeled on reptile importers, dealers and pet stores. Anyone who brings in huge amount of reptiles and doesn't give a *darn about them. Eventually one'll turn up. Then take it to the vet right away.

Ilove, you need to look for big time breeders, not pet stores and locals. There are some amazing breeders out your way, but you gotta hunt for em and make nice if you want a chance at the real pretty reptiles. I'd start by finding the biggest reptile expos you can and visiting there. Check for regional reptile boards too. Actually, start with talking to people like Mark Webb, George Werner, etc. Member here on the forum who breed BTS. They're out there if you look hard enough.

Nothing wrong with wild caughts if they are your only option,eg cbb not available, just have to give them more attention to get settled in,keep your eyes peeled though,i reckon there are a few in us and canada

I don't mind WC animals, though I hate the industry. I do go for WC, but with the goal of either strengthening my bloodlines or making a group to produce CBB. I won't put an animal through all that just to get a new pet. And I do try to find the most ethical importer I can (I happen to like Switzer) so I can at least sleep at night.

I also wouldn't have a problem with illegally obtained animals though, so my priorities may be a bit skewed.

My husband and I were kind of discussing possibly trying to breed them, since we do have some dilemma with the wc issue, and would be kind of nice to have the variety in Canada. Its trying to find them that is difficult and from the least unethical source.

Yeah i agree with that mel,the animals go through alot before they make it to the pet trade, if they were treated better they would probably have a better track record of aclimatising to captivity, even just for pets
