I know it gets worse! Now I have, what, 5 1/2 to 6 months to wait and see if these breedings have taken? :lounge:

Well, maybe not quite that long! My T.r.rugosa baby was born four months to the day after the first copulation I witnessed last year!

Thanks, that was pretty exciting last year. Mom looks good this year too, but I haven't been lucky enough to witness actual copulation this year. I have two females with bite marks on their shoulders though, so fingers crossed!

Thank you, gentlemen. This makes the waiting more tolerable!

Nearly 25 years ago, Ernie Wagner called me and asked me to come over to his house. We were working together back then, breeding a number of different species. I lived just down the street so I went over right away. Ernie had a colony of black aspera; probably 5 animals. I went into his animal room where he was waiting. He told me to close my eyes and hold out my hands. He placed two black newborn Shinglebacks in my hands. He offered to let me take them home and raise them after awhile but I didn't have the heart to take them from 'the family'. This is one of those very fond memories from the past.

I would love to experience that again.

Ditto that! I really hope you get to hold babies this year. As far as I can tell, rugosa is a species that almost always produces when copulation occurs. The fact that yours did the deed means that a baby(s) is EXTREMELY likely. I will be hoping hard that is the case. In return, I expect to hear IMMEDIATELY when it happens! Monthly weights of your gorgeous female would be greatly appreciated as well.

p.s. Thank you for that story. Hearing that means more than you know.
