I believe that rule has been broken by a few people.

Phaemas - What you must understand is that indeed, people here do not know you. All they see is what you show them. But when you avoid questions, post photos that show medical conditions everyone else was not at the time aware of etc, people become concerned. By dodging questions, it gives the impression that even you yourself know that your answers will be potentially not ideal. You have been discussing breeding Marvin in the past, so when you show photos that display injuries that are quite common during breeding, what do you think people are going to think? They will not consider a medical condition that you have not told of. No one knew of this 'dry infection'.

Thats the problem with the internet. People dont know your full story. I feel that it would be ideal for you to take a break from the forum and just focus on Marvin. Perhaps Pm Kat if you need anything. Instead of spending time one here, could you perhaps be mowing lawns for money? Doing all the housework in exchange for convincing your parents to take Marvin to the vet?

Everybody needs to quit being mean and give advice nicely it makes it scary to post when one person makes a mistake and people publicly jump on them . I'm glad that you have him on antibiotics which shows that you are treating these illnesses. I hope all of this does not make you leave the forum. I also hope your skunk gets better soon.

Never too late to learn

This is where you have to stand strong and perhaps try reinforcing the idea that you wish to make a sacrifice (In the case of doing your housework, you are sacrificing your time and effort) in order to care for a creature who, reptile or not, is under your care. A living creature for whom you are responsible for. You want to prove that you are mature enough to make sacrifices and exert effort for what you care for. Today it may be a reptile, in the future it may be making sacrifices to get your college work done, working weekends for a car, right up to your very own children. Even if in advance you have to promise to do the housework for a month or two. Also, if you make that promise, DO IT. Even if Marvin, sadly, passes away, be sure to fulfill your promise, so as then if ever you need to do it again, your parents will be more receptive of the idea.

Express that you wish to work for money, and that as a mature and responsible person you have made the decision to spend the money on saving a creature for whom you care for, and not a video game or latest gadget, a decision which you see as not only a valuable learning experience, but to prove to you parents that you are trustworthy (By spending the money on Marvin, not blowing it on lollies say.) and responsible.

To most parents, no learning experience is ever a waste of money, and this is one you cant learn in school and will want to learn before YOUR life depends on it, not just a pets.

Its really too bad someone doesn't know your real name and where you live, at this point you need to be turned into the authorities for animal abuse. Even at 13 you should be able to realize that giving marvin to someone who can help him is in his best interest. Your refusal to do what is best for him shows you are selfish and only care for yourself.

Phaemas - that one post was very inappropriate. You DO NOT, ever, swear at or attack other members. The filters fixed the swearing, but that was very inappropriate to write. If you get that angry then don't post. This is your one warning - you post something that attacks a member or contains swearing again and you will be banned for a week.

For everyone else - I know that it is hard to read threads like this and see what is happening and not react and get upset and try to give advice. At this point, I don't think anything ANYONE says will make a difference. If you look through old threads you will see that every single time Phaemas has received advice from this forum she has chosen to ignore it. Every singe case from not getting a second bluey, to not using mirrors to construct an enclosure (you can see it in one of the pictures), to not trying to breed, to not handling her sick BTS... every piece of well meaning advice has been ignored. I don't think anything anyone says will make a difference. I can't understand why she keeps posting if she ask questions and then chooses to ignore everything she is told, except that maybe she enjoys the attention. I think at this point the best thing we can do is just ignore stuff like this - getting upset and trying to help isn't making any difference. I know things like this are really hard to see and that everyone on here wants to help Marvin and make sure that she receives the care she needs... but I don't think anything anyone posts will make a difference.

I understand it's hard to not swear sometimes(remember, I'm the same age as you), but we can all find ways to POLITELY express concern/anger in a civilized manner.

That was a good point Kat . That is exactly what I think . I think she purposely asks questions to shock people and doesn't follow instructions because she thinks it's funny and wants attention . That is the only explanation . She should be banned because she obviously thinks this site is just a joke and is never going to follow any advice . She is upsetting everybody because seeing somebody neglect a pet and be cruel is so sad . I wonder if this was a dog or cat if people would be as tolerant of her abuse .

I am not really sure what is going on here or why she isn't listen to advice. I thought that she was listening to some things, so it is only with these past few threads and pictures showing the mirrors and scale damage to the back etc that it really seems like she isn't. We can't ban someone for not listening to advice given, although I do understand your point that no one seems to be benefiting from her being here. I am still kind of hoping that some of the advice is being considered and that she will get Marvin the vet care or else give her to me or Mel to take in.

We are discussing how to handle it with the mods and if she continues to just be a problem then we will ban her.
