Introducing Overlord

Postby Spindown » Mon Feb 06, 2012 5:25 pm

Hey guys, here is my new (hopefully) male Northern. Hes 8-10 years old. His name is Overlord (sticking with the Zerg SC2 scheme, of course) renamed from Irwin. (which i actually liked but the BF said NO.)

I got him off of Craigslist. I figured, I like skinks, why not? :) He's supposed to be very aggressive, randomly. So far, on day 2 with this guy, and although hes a bit huffy, he hasnt offered to bite me yet. *shrug* we'll see.

He is very pretty, but very strange...his eyes are buggy, do you think i should take him to the vet? I've never seen the bug-eyed thing before. Both eyes are like that.
Also, his nails are very long, even though they were cut before i got him, the quick appears to extend down a lot farther than any of my other skinks, its very unusual. Do you think this is because he is an older skink?
LOL his head is HUuuuuuuuuge O.O i love it! :)

anyhow, pictures! *EDIT* Please excuse the coffee stains on the table, I didnt notice them before i started taking pics...GRRR boyfriends...

If you have a concern, I would bring 'em to the vet. :) Gorgeous though! It never hurts to bring a new to the vet anyways. Good luck!

Gorgeous!! :D The eyes look fine to me, looks like a nice, healthy acquisition! I would guess that you're in luck if you wanted male.

I've gotten "aggressive" skinks from kijiji before. They have always turned out to be a bit shy / defensive / huffy but never actually aggressive. All of them have turned out to be very sweet and once they settled in and got used to their new home the shyness and huffiness went away.

Nice looking Northern-it looks like it could indeed be a male(quite a plump one at that though...but he seems to have a bit of a barrel chest...seems most females gain weight lower down). If its a male it might start dropping spermplugs at this time of year.
