How long can you keep dog food?
I was wondering how long can you keep dog food in Tupperware before it goes bad after opening the can?

i keep mine in the refrigator until it either looks bad or smells bad. its pretty easy to notice xD i throw it after about a week, sometimes 6 or 5 days. so one can is good for two meals.
if it smells even a little odd or looks even a little bad - then throw it.
if the can is not opened you can keep it for a long time - like a few months if not longer due to the conservants that often tucked into them. but if its a good dog/cat food in a can without conservants - no longer than a few weeks. keep it cold and it will hold longer.
you can also freeze some of the dog food in portions to keep it longer.

I feed the end of it exactly 7 days after it is opened. It will still be safe after that, but I have figured out exactly how much I need for two adult feedings, so I only mix up that much. I feed 1/2 immediately, then the other half a week later. If I didn't use all the unopened food within about a week and a half, I would probably throw the rest out at that point.
If you find that you don't use a whole can in that amount of time, do you have a dog or other animal you could give some to when you open it to avoind wasting it?
