shingleback prices???
hi everyone LONGGGGGGGGGGGG time no post but here I am:)
anyway I’m looking for some opinions please.
I have decided to sell some of my shingle backs to make room for babies soon And have no idea on pricing other then what I have paid in the past for them.
I will be selling some yearlings, juveniles and possibly adult pairs.
I have had a look around and I cannot find ANY stumpys for sale on line at the moment. Would this mean I could charge a higher price?
I don’t want to rip people off but I also don’t want to get ripped myself.
I’m considering selling some to a store rather than privately but have NO idea what price I should ask from a shop as they will generally double whatever I ask when they sell back to the public.
I have different colour variations and ages, so yeah seeking assistance from anyone who can offer any tips!
Thanks guys

Maybe mention where in Aus you are and what the ages/locals/background of the shingles are? There are probably other Aussies in the area who could give you a good idea of normal prices
If you were in North America you could charge a couple thousand each, but I doubt that'll fly in Aus.

Over here in WA, the standard variations are usually around $110-180 (IMO $180 is too much). I have seen these asking prices mostly for shingles 12 months or younger. The Goldfield variants are much more expensive. Usually anywhere over $500+.
I am not sure what they are going for in the eastern states.

Adding onto what Spandangle said - I believe that some forms such as coastal, hills and goldfields are only available if one exports from WA (Correct me if Im wrong.)
And so, I would presume that in regards to these species there would be the WA price ($110 - $180 for hills and coastals, and $500+ for the Goldfields) plus the $180 exportation fee required to be payed to CALM, and then postage (which I believe is about $50). So say if one buys a $110 hills form, it will cost them $340 to get it to East Aus. So theres a base price.
Now many people do not like shipping such a distance, and those who do ship theirs in do not part easily from what I hear, and thus make them hard to come by. Which means you could very well sell hills or coastals for $400.
But, I do not know the current situation in regards to the availability of shingles in NSW, so please take my info as more of a guide or something to think on! Also, locals like aspers probably wouldnt cost as much as they do not have to be imported from WA.

I read somewhere that it's $180 for up to 5 animals. So if you buy in bulk you can save a lot. You'd need to check that though. Hills and coastals are $110. if you get it from a breeder or reptile store pilbarapythons.com and reptileandgrow.com spring to mind. I've seen pet shops selling for $180 though and they never sell.
Goldfield forms are a lot more pricey starting from $500 and can go up to $2000 or so I've been told. (Depends on what people are willing to pay)

shingleback prices
It seems to be the way it is in alot of places at the moment people seem to think oh yeah they come out this time of year I will just catch them, Its my belief that you get them from breeders and owners I am not a fan of buying them at shops for the simple reason that you cant judge the kind of environment thay are coming from at a shop, Pluss I love to have a Yarn and see how others have their setups to get a better idea of great ways to set my enclosures
