Today me and my boyfriend were just hanging out watching TV and we heard out bts makin weird choking noises. I went to attend to him and he just looked at me lickin his lips. He didnt eat anything or drink anything. And he seems fine now. I put more water in his dish just incase.
Does anyone know why he did this?

Take him out of his hide and have a good look at him. Check for weepy eyes, runny nose, lethargy beyond the shedding grumpiness and mucus around mouth and nose. His choking noises could be a respiratory infection. If any of these signs are present, or any laboured breathing, abnormal wheeziness or louder than normal breath sounds, take him to the vet. From the description it could be anything from normal and harmless to something more severe, so a more accurate description of what he is doing, what he looks like and his general state of health/activity level/ appetite etc, will help.
Remember, you must seek veterinary attention promptly if a respiratory infection is suspected. They get sick rapidly and the sooner they are treated, the better the chance of a full recovery.

im sorry, i realize this thread is a little old now, but the same thing just happened to Litchie.
I think ive heard the choking sound once before but Litchie looked normal ( like 3 weeks ago), and now it happened twice within 10 minutes so i know its him making the sound, but he looks just fine, licking his mouth, when i look at him.
no signs of respiratory infection, just a loud and somewhat scary noise. Eats and poops and sheds well.
MissMeg, did you reach any conclusion on this that i can learn of? It worries me a lot.

No, I havent. I will still hear him do it (maybe once a month) I really dont think its anything to worry too much about. When it time for Ruckus to the vet (hopefully soon, moneys super tight right now) Ill mention it, then Ill send you my findings (if there i any)
I think it may be something built up in his thoat while he sleeps and hes juy clearing his throat so to say.
