My BTS not eating

Postby asunaro_movie » Sat Apr 30, 2011 5:39 pm

My BTS not eating for about 10 days. :(
I usually feed her (I think it's a she) dog can food with veggies & fruits twice a week. And some crickets and superworms as treats in the other days.

She doesn't eat anything at all for more than a week. She's normal other than that. Should I be concern about that? BTW, she's 10 months old and about 17" long from head to tail.

Nothing to worry about. Wait about 5 days and then try offering food again (not the buggy treats, offer a wholesome meal). If he doesn't want it, wait another 3-5 days and offer again. He'll eat when he's ready.
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

My guy(also a Northern) is about the same age as yours and has also shown very little interest in food. I've managed to tempt him with a piece of banana sprinkled with calcium powder, and he took a superworm or two and a piece of two of dogfood over the last 2-3 weeks. Certainly a change from him attacking and eagerly polishing off a plate very 2-3 days previously.

This seems to be an odd time of year to fast. Maybe he's feeling amorous? He's dropped several large spermplugs lately.

Probably not a big deal but are you sure your temps are high enough. A lot of reptiles will refuse food if they are too cold to digest it. As long as your husbandry is ok, there is nothing to worry about. She will come around when she is ready.

Great advice from all. Check your temps and husbandry, and if that is fine then don't worry too much. Unless showing signs of illness or lethargy not eating for several weeks will do a BTS no harm.

Have there been any other changes? Any lethargy or behavioral changes? If not, offer healthy food in a few days like Ali suggests.
