Hi!

Postby Pavid » Sun Apr 03, 2011 9:39 pm

Hello thought I would introduce myself. I am Cassie from Ky. I just got my very first BTS this afternoon I am somewhat new to them I pet sit for a friends skinks regularly but have never actually owned one.

'Matilda' is around 2-3 years old according to her previous owner. She is 19 1/2" from nose to tail. I do not know what kind of BTS she is. She is a bit of a chunk lol. But seems to be very calm and sweet. She is not in the least bit afraid of me or any of my other animals in the house (she will never have contact with them).

I did not name her but promised I would keep her name since they were very attached to her.

She is a very cool animal.

Here are two pictures her owner sent my camera isn't charged enough to take any yet. She is currently having a good time pushing her bedding all to one side of her tank lol.

I would guess she is an IJ, but I am still getting the hang of IDing, so best to wait and see what more experienced members say. She is plump for sure, very pretty girl. :)

It looks like my old Eastern...
So I'd assume it's a Tiliqua scincoides subsp.

Welcome fellow Kentuckian to BTS.net!!!

Your girl looks to be an Irian Jaya and a VERY lovely one at that!

However, I would suggest taking her off of the newspaper bedding and using paper towels for now. If newspaper gets wet the ink will bleed, which can stain the feet of your skink and depending on the skink and the ink used could cause irritation. Paper towels should be fine. :)

Natural Cypress is also available at most home improvement stores and nurseries for around $3 bucks a bag. It is widely used as bedding with BTS.

Thanks everyone!

These pics were sent from her previous owner I don't have her on the newspaper. I have her on coconut husk and she seems to love it.
