Off Topic but sad :(

I know this is off topic but im reallyyyy worried right now, because last night i let my cat outside and now I cant find her. She's been out all night before, and been just fine, but im worried because she is a white cat--- easy prey, and we have coyotes around our house. Just kinda sad is all, ive had her for 10 years....she's like my child, how can i not have brought her back in??? I feel like such a bad parent :'-(

Cats should never be let out - ever. I work at an animal shelter and we have about 30 cats right now that are strays. Cats that are let outside are more likely to catch things like FiV and FiP, not to mention a whole host of wonderful parasites. They also end up dead either by cars, or wildlife such as eagles, owls, coyotes, etc, or fights with other cats. And don't even get me started about unsterilized cats going outside..... Plus cats outside hunt natural wildlife and can cause huge environmental problems, putting some creatures at risk for endangerment and/or extinction. If you love you cat, you should never, ever let him/her outside and do everything in your power to keep them indoors.

My cat use to be an outdoor cat that would head to the woods sometimes for three days then come back. He even came back once with a coyote bite on his leg that we had to have surgery on (i was about 9 at the time) but he was okay eventually.

I hope she is okay and comes home soon.

My cat has been very healthy and happy as an outside cat for 18 years! It died last month of old age....

My sisters cat once got out and returned after 10 days! If I were you I would put out a have-a heart trap with some soft food just before bed and you may catch her. They often return to the scene but can turn kinda wildish after a night or 2 outside. I know it feels horrible, I have to beg you, if you get her back, PLEASE don't let her out anymore. I know cats love to go out, I have a chain link dog kennel set up in my backyard with a wood play gym for my cats (4 of them) because i do believe they love to be out but you are just taking a chance if they aren't supervised! Cat against car is not a fair fight!

Any luck ????? ...Councils in my state are punching out cat traps . My mum was stung her cat ertha kitt , was called onto a neighbours property ,then handed to a ranger $ 80 + GST ...Alot of guys i know take a hard line on cats or toms , fighting howling all night and take a hard line ..But this is australia ...The night should come alive with red eye,s not yellow ...I sincery hope he,s sleeping somewere .

After that little dig ---- pop some pics up and perhaps a reward, hopefully someone came across her and is taking care of her until you can be reunited! All my prayers for you to find your pet (I'm not a *MeStoopid cat person) but I know what it's like to love and lose.

Leave food by where you usually let her out to lure her in the right direction if she's in the area. I hope you find her alright.

But for the record, evil pixie is 100% correct. Anyone leaving their animals outside have absolutely no way of knowing what happens to them, whether it's the contraction of some sickness or physical abuse by negligent people. When it returns to you, it may seem like nothing happened, but it's much safer to keep them indoors. After all, you wouldn't leave your bluey unattended, would you? Or your dog, children... etc.

Both were supposed to be indoor only, but my own cat (who weighs nearly 25 lbs and is very tall) will literally break a window to get outside. We have no choice but to let him out. We live on a court, and he doesn't leave the general area. He guards our house from stray cats, raccoons, and other garbage can raiders. He is neutered too, but is the dominant cat on our street.

However, he used to get into fights, and once he was treed by a rottweiler for 2 weeks. Cats are so much safer indoors. I wish he would stay inside, but we have been trough two windows so far. We let him out, or he gets out lol.

Gee thats a tuff cat NOMAD .lol Seen Dogs go threw windows when a female is on heat ..not a puddy cat ,classic love to see his way of doing it . There extremely robust cats hey?. see bulk out my way at night in the bush , huge big tuffs of hair in there ears 1 eye missing all maingy ..but tough ..Any luck ? perhaps someone has taken your cat in thinking he,s lost ..print off a pic @ your local shops .
