Sometimes I think I need an Aussie to American translator progam.

A queenslander is a type of house built in the state of Queensland. They are made of timber, raised off the ground usually (to keep it cool as QLD is a tropical state) and usually have a veranda all the way around. I, too, would like a Queenslander, and Leigh you've picked the right state to emigrate to. Although it's starting to boom so get there quick! Come here first on a working holiday visa then get someone to sponsor you and get a temporary resident visa and then wait years to be eligible for citizenship or you can stay a Pom.
Queenslander can also refer to someone who lives there, but they are also referred to as 'banana-benders'
I was going to say ex-Army, Ruth. It reminds me of, when my grandparents and parents were sent here as refugees after the war, they were housed in camps (that were right where Australia's Wonderland was on Walgrove Road) and they were these big silver half circle thingies. They swapped one kind of camp for another, they were there for about three years. How is it insulated for heat and cool?
And although my deck is Tiliqua Blue, the rest of my house is beige. It's due for a paint, and we're going to do it white, with blue trim.
Bad front & back pics.
We burnt in the fires on Xmas day 2001 (us and Rickard Rd the next one over). We back onto a cliff, faces into Sun Valley, and then over from that is your parents at Winmalee !
And yes, retartded and spastic, and gay are used all the time here. But like you say Zach, people don't think because they don't know anyone retarded or spastic or gay. People are dumb.
