BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

So, I am finally off the mark for 2015. Baby pink tongues!!! Managed to find 13 bubbas tonight but she's not done yet and also there are a million places for them to hide in the large viv. This is my original pair. Bred every year for a good few years now. Record is 21 from this girl. Also got two other girls ready to go...

Geez these guys are prolific,best not mrntion that part to the misses,haha

My new goal is to set up a couple of exhibits like this,pinkys for sure,maybe some small /medium egernias as well,lol

How hard are Pink tongues to take care of compared to Bluies? are they easy to handle and such aswell? because they are beautiful little things

Yes a really nice pink tongue enclosure could make a great exhibit. For me the trick is getting the sides and back of the enclosure covered with cork bark or similar. I also keep a colony of tree skink Egernia striolata in a fairly naturalistic enclosure. That works very well and is pretty low maintenance. Which species did you have in mind?

Pink tongues are fine with handling once they've got some size on them. They are quite delicate as babies. Well not delicate but very small and you have to know what you are doing. Once they get up to maybe 6 or 7 inches total length they are pretty robust. But, they are harder to feed in that they are specialist slug and snail eaters. You can get them to take other foods like dog food but mine just do better on snails. I am able to source frozen apple snails in a Chinese supermarket which makes life easier...
