non BT Hamm arrivals

Postby kl » Fri Sep 26, 2014 6:30 pm

Picked up 3 baby Berber Skinks (no, not Schneiders!) out of Finland. This adds to my small group which includes an adult pair and a yearling pair. They are in a very bare aquarium with little substrate till they pass inspection. The person who picked them up from the seller to deliver to Hamm claimed he saw mites on them while transporting them. So far I've not seen any even though I've carefully looked through the substrate in the shipping containers and on the animals. They are only about 4 inches long each so there's not a lot of area for mites to hide. I'm hoping that the guy was wrong. If not then it's going to suck having to eradicate them. They are being kept on a different floor level than my reptile room but they can always find a way to get around.
