CLASSIFIEDS

Now that we have a section for other skink species, maybe we should have a classifieds section for other species as well.

We can definitely consider it. I think the main reason for not having one before is the financial side of things. There is no financial support from any means for this site, other than moderator contributions. While this would be great, it would be a shame for the site to be used by people as just a way to advertise free of charge.
I understand there are current users that would benefit greatly from this, who own blue tongues skinks, too, but it would be sad to have people signing up just so they can advertise a non blue tongue related sale.
On the other hand, if there was interest in users making a small monetary contribution per year to allow them to advertise, I'm sure we could look at a way to make it work.
We all want to support each other as much as possible, so I hope everyone can understand the reasons behind current advertising being kept "blue tongue related" only.

Good points Lea. I think we should have just this section for non-bluey stuff, but not classifies. I mean, that isn't really what this forum is about. ETA: Unless there is money involved, because money speaks ;P

We could make this a subforum of the 'Other Species' forum if there is interest - that way the bluey classifieds would still be on the main page and attract the most attention but there is a place to advertise other skink species as well... Thoughts?

An other skink classifieds section would be great! I don't know how much it would get used, though. Most of the usage would probably be for RECS and other import skinks anyways, not the rarer aussie ones like most of us probably want.

What about other lizards, or other reptiles?

If it is a subforum of this forum, it would make sense to limit it to Scincidae. If we really want an other reptiles classifieds we could do that, but I'd like to keep this forum specific to Scincidae with a focus on Tiliqua....
I'm not sure if you remember, it might be before your time, but there was an 'other classifieds' for a while and it hardly got used. I think Zach asked for a site donation to adversite there, which may be why it wasn't used much at all.
I'm open to other suggestions; I'd personally like to keep advertising specific to either Tliiqua or Tiliqua plus 'other skinks'.

Oh woops, haha. I was thinking of something else.
I remember the other classifieds, and yeah no one used it because he charged I think like $10 or something.
What about splitting the classifieds into wanted/for sale?

Easier just keeping it for sales or wanteds in the one section,im not sure it will get enough traffic to warrant having different sections

I think it could be useful as there are several members, including me, breeding other skink species, especially egernia.
