Dog vs Cat Food PTS
I'm getting a pink tongue skink soon and one thing I'm wondering about is cat vs dog food. There's very little information out there on this species but from everyone I've spoken to and what caresheets are out there cat/dog food is an acceptable stable item. Basically a bluey diet with more meat/protein items and snails. I'm concerned about the higher levels of taurine compared to dog food as they are semi- omnivores and not simply carnivores like cats. I know several people have maintained them on cat food but it still bothers me a bit. Any thoughts? Whatever food I use will be limited ingredient grain free with other items of course.

Re: Dog vs Cat Food PTS
I feed both dog and cat food; grain free, usually pate. I have no scientific evidence that one is better than the other, I can only tell you that my skinks eat both, and seem to be doing well. I also feed chopped frozen snails, and occasionally, soaked Mazuri tortoise chow. I think giving variety whenever possible is beneficial.
