Beautiful bird, does it come across as wild or somebodies pet escaped?

He is definitely a wild one Nick. We don't get too many here but they are plentiful further to the east, most don't seem to have a fear of human contact and will readily sit on your hand if you have food for them. In the past we had a wild Kookaburra that would fly in and sit on your shoulder. :)

Aaaaaw, absolutely gorgeous...tugs at my heart strings a bit as I used to keep macaws before my allergies got the best of me. I love parrots, such beautiful and intelligent birds. There is a nest of Quaker parrots not far from here, they have established themselves on Long Island! All over the place in Florida, you can hear the screaming flocks as they approach.
Nothing like your exquisite kings, though but still cool.

Been trying to get a pic for you norm of a species that the last few years have been regular visits down at the folks in boneo, not the greates pic due to being at full zoom on my fone, will have to bring the good camera down in future

Its great seening flocks of these guys, apparently years ago very abundant but growing up down on mornington peninsula 35 odd years i didnt start seeing them till i moved to suburban melb, haha, perhaps they waited for me to move but yeah last 5 years theres been hundreds of them

Yellow tail black cockatoos, theres a row of pinetrees down the back paddock that they love to demolish especially when the cones start breaking open,u have to watch your head when the teees are full as they make short work of the cones and branches

The Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoos are around here too Richard but are hard to photograph as they only seem to roost right at the top of tall pines. I hear them more than see them with that distinctive call more like raptors than parrots.

It was cold and wet here today but this young female King parrot turned up for a feed.

Yeah the yellow tails do the same here, sometimes there down low in trees just over the fence but generally up top of pines demolishing the cones, and there distinctive caww as they fly and roost
