I catch it outside in the woods near my summer house, because I want to know exactly the type, cause the people around here are telling me that they are dangerous because they have blue tongue and others told me that they are not. So I want to be sure so I can know how to take care of them and educate the people around here so they don't kill them.
Thanks in advance

Can you provide us with a more specific location other than just Mexico? There are 1000's of species of lizards in Mexico alone. Knowing where you found the lizard will help us narrow the pool of lizards down.

Thanks!

EDIT: Did a little digging. Looks like it could be part of the sceloporus genus of spiny and swift lizards. At least the ones pictured in this website look similar. http://www.reptilesmagazine.com/Wild-Lizards/North-American-Lizards-Of-The-Sceloporus-Genus/

Man, I've spent some time researching this lizard you found and I cannot find an exact match. I can find lizards that have similar features, but nothing 100%.

As another has said, what you have is not a skink. Most of the North American skinks have smooth skin/scales and are not very big compared to the Australian variety. I don't believe it's a spiny lizard either. From what I have seen, the scales on spiny lizards are pointy, while the one pictured hardly has anything called pointy. I thought it might be an alligator lizard, but nope. The snout on the one picture is blunt. Alligator lizards are elongated and have more detailed eyes. Only source I have found thus far is coming from Wikipedia. So, I am certain there are species missing from their list.

I would try contacting the University of Texas. They have a herpetolgy department which could include Mexican species, too. You might try contacting someone from this page: https://integrativebio.utexas.edu/component/cobalt/category-items/1-directory/7-integrative-biology?Itemid=1224.

Good luck!
