New Subforum - Species Photos

Postby Katrina » Tue Feb 18, 2014 9:40 pm

Hi all,

As discussed a bit in another thread, we have added a new subforum for photos of the various species. It is located here: viewforum.php?f=25

We want to keep it to just photos of the various species and pertinent information - no comments about how pretty they are etc. So this forum will be read only for everyone but mods - if you want to add your photos, please PM or emails them to one or any / all mods and whoever has time will put them up for you, of course acknowledging your contribution. This will also help ensure that all photos are correctly IDd!

If you would like to discuss any of the photos in that forum, please just start a thread in the General forum and link the thread / photo # that you wish to discuss.

Please feel free to start sending photos our way - we'd like them to be good IDing photos, so birds eye showing the entire body and tail if possible.

Thank you! Feel free to add comments or feedback, this current setup can change if we get better ideas or suggestions.

For those that haven't found it yet - we are asking for as much info about each skink as you have. So:
Name
Age
Sex
Length (include total and SVL if possible)
Weight
Locale / Type
Breeder / Lineage

As much as you can supply. We also want as many different skinks in there as possible, just only 1-2 good photos of each individual animal.

Hope that makes sense!

Edit to add: Thanks ML for the good suggestion - if possible, provide 3 photos of each skink - one of birds eye, one of the belly and one of the side of the head and we will include all three photos if they are good quality.

Another Edit to add: Susann has offered to help add photos, so please pass any photos and information on to her as well as / instead of the group of mods and she can add them up as well. Thanks Susann!

Would the members with skinks of the following species please consider sending me (or any active moderator) pictures via PM, as we presently have none of these in the Species Photo Gallery:

Common Shingleback - Tiliqua rugosa rugosa
Eastern Shingleback - Tiliqua rugosa aspera
Sharkbay Shingleback - Tiliqua rugosa palarra
Rottnest Island Shingleback - Tiliqua rugosa konowi
Centralian - Tiliqua multifasciata
Tanimbar - Tiliqua scincoides chimaerea
Western - Tiliqua occipitalis
Hybrid, Integrade or Unidentifiable Tiliqua

Remember we would like the following information on each animal:

Name:
Age:
Sex:
Total length (include SVL if possible):
Weight:
Locale / Type:
Breeder / Lineage:

Also remember that we have restricted it to max 3 photos per animal (preferably one overhead shot that shows all or most of the tail, and suggested are shots showing the underbelly and side of the animal/face), so please pick out what you consider your favorites.
Breeder and keeper of Meraukes from 2010 to 2022.

Wouldn't it be ok to take pictures from the species examples on the home page of bts.net? I might be able to come up with some of those types if I can ever find time. I have easy access to all of them, but would need to get permission to use some of them.
6.10.9 T. s. intermedia
2.2.7 T. s. scincoides
1.2.1 T. nigrolutea
2.2.0 T. r. rugosa
1.2.3 T.g. keyensis
2.0.5 T.s. chimaera
0.0.0. T. occipitalis
0.0.0. T. multifasciata
