That girl has finally given birth over the last few days. Without pulling the cage apart, I still managed to see five newborns. Here's one that I was able to grab.
One of the other adults from the breeding trio which made these babies.

They really are amazing. If the photos don't do them justice, then I'll have to get down under to see them in the flesh for myself one day!!!

Re: varieties of cunningham skinks
My first try on the video camera and editing.
New England Tableland form in the vid. They were suspicious of the camera at first and I think a couple of them had a chew at it.
Enjoy.

I cut out most of the basking and sitting still action.

Very cool videos! It’s great to see how they behave when no one is around.

I didn't even know there were six babies in there.
It's just a cheapie sports camera I bought for fishing and I thought I would give it a whirl on a few skinks first.

Re: varieties of cunningham skinks
I can only agree with the others. Very lovely.
Looked in on one of my groups of southern cunningham's (SA/VIC form) and saw my big female is looking pretty chewed up on both shoulders so that is a good sign! Just need to see some sign of activity with my NSW sandstones. I have noticed that the presumed male has really coloured up so that is promising?
Mark.

Re: varieties of cunningham skinks
I haven't noticed any difference in the males prior to mating colour wise, except for the normal slough cycle.
My female Sydney sandstone has the shoulder scars 24/7, they never really heal between seasons. It makes it easier to tell her from the cage mates.

Re: varieties of cunningham skinks
Ive nrver seen any scuffing on mine when they mate, theu have access to 2 adjoined 4x3 metre outdoor enclosures though, have caight them mating or attempting to on a couple of occaisions though, agile buggers
So dont give up if u dont see scuffing mark,or mating, timid buggers often wait till they dont think uour about to start fooling around

Re: varieties of cunningham skinks
Some old pics of Cunninghams from Girraween National Park. They are some of the prettiest Cunninghams within their distribution. Pictures are from 20+ years ago from the age of film.
Funny things is, the national park on the other side of the highway, Sundown NP which is only 50kms away from Girraween, the Cunninghams there are almost black.
Cheers
