depends on how old it is …. babies need a different diet to juveniles and it's different again for adult BT skinks.

The breeder (if you are buying direct from the breeder) will tell you what it's been eating and how often.

Pet shops …. don't believe a word they say about bedding, lighting, diet irrespective of how old /big it is.

Yes, agree with King, never believe a word a pet shop tells you unless they bring you in back and show you their breeding facility. (A friend of mine owns such a shop.) Most pet shops carry only imports and will tell you they are captive bred. Ask for pictures of parents, lineage, etc. Spend a little extra in the beginning and buy from a breeder and spend less in the end on vet bills. Ask your breeder all the questions you have. If skinks are breeding and happy there is obvious success there. I come from a time when everything was imported, and the term 'captive bred' was not even heard of for reptiles. They all had to come from somewhere, or we'd have no exotic pets in this country. But now, there are choices and the wise one would to be to buy from a breeder.
